ST. LOUIS — Two men have been charged after allegedly burglarizing Dunbar Elementary School for copper piping in the city’s Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood.
According to St. Louis Metropolitan Police, Mark Clark and James Williams Jr. were caught inside the elementary school located at 1415 N Garrison Avenue on Friday.
Police initially responded to a “suspicious persons” call which indicated Clark and Williams Jr. entered the school.
When police arrived, officers found one of the school’s doors left open.
Police found Clark standing in the basement bathroom with an orange angle grinder in his hand. Williams Jr. was seen standing on top of a toilet inside of a stall. Officers also saw cut copper piping near Clark’s feet.
Clark has been charged with second degree burglary and possession of burglary tools and Williams Jr. has only been charged with second degree burglary. Both are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 25.
