ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. – Charges have been filed against two teenagers in relation to the murder of a Dupo, Illinois, man earlier this week.

Police were called to a shooting along North Second Street in Dupo late Monday morning. Upon arrival, police found two people shot.

Both were transported to the hospital, but 36-year-old Cody Rhodes succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the other victim is still unknown.

The Major Case Squad took over the investigation following the incident.

Court records state that 16-year-old Kingston Todd of Nixa, Missouri, is charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm with an ineligible FOID, and forgery. Todd’s name is disclosed as a minor, as he is being tried as an adult in court, the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office said.

Additionally, 19-year-old Bryce Rhodes of Festus, Missouri, is charged with the unlawful sale of a firearm, the possession of a firearm with an ineligible FOID, and obstructing justice.

Bryce is the son of victim Cody, according to officials. He had allegedly sold the handgun to Todd and hid it in a backpack following the shooting.

Additional details regarding these charges are limited at this time.

The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office states that Todd is in custody. It is unclear if Rhodes is in custody.
