ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Two teenagers have been charged as adults after they allegedly plotted a robbery in north St. Louis County last year that led to another teenager’s death, investigators say.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Zeon McDaniel and Kylen Evans, both 17 and from Florissant, Missouri, each with second-degree murder, first-degree attempted robbery and armed criminal action in connection with the case.

McDaniel and Evan are both accused in the death of 18-year-old Jacob Bell, who was shot, then crashed his car moments later before he died from his injuries. The events occurred on October 26, 2024, near the intersection of Dawson Place and Jennings Station Road.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, police responded to the scene and found Bell suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds after he crashed into a utility pole. Bell was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but he later died from his injuries.

Several weeks later, investigators developed McDaniel and Evans as potential suspects. A forensic review of their social media accounts revealed the two planned to rob Bell, while phone records placed both suspects at the scene at the time of the shooting.

Court documents allege that McDaniel and Evans agreed to meet the victim at a pre-planned meeting spot. A nearby doorbell camera reportedly captured two suspects and a vehicle matching their descriptions. Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot wound and seeing two individuals running away from the scene together.

Prosecutors formally filed charges against McDaniel and Evans on Thursday. Both were booked into jail in St. Louis County on a $750,000 bond, per Missouri court records.
