ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – St. Louis County Executive Sam Page presented the University of Missouri – St. Louis Wednesday with a check for $10 million.

The money is going towards the development of north St. Louis County and the workforce district, according to officials. Plans include the demolition of old buildings that are too costly to maintain or renovate.

UMSL plans to create a business and workforce district with a mission to attract services and opportunities to north county.

“We have every reason to believe that UMSL’s solid reputation for educating the professional workforce of the region will help us cultivate and recruit the business opportunities that will propel our campus forward and our community forward,” UMSL Chancellor Dr. Kristin Sobolik said.

Page was joined by County Council Chair Rita days for the check presentation.
