LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. – A Troy man is dead and another man was left injured Saturday night after a fatal crash that involved a deer on Missouri Route 47.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the crash occurred a little after 10 p.m. on westbound Missouri Route 47, west of Davis Lane. The crash involved a Ford F-150 and a Hyundai Accent.
The crash happened as the Hyundai was traveling westbound on Missouri Route 47 and the Ford F-150 was traveling in the eastbound direction.
MSHP officials say while traveling westbound, the Hyundai struck a deer in the roadway and crossed the center of the roadway into the path of the Ford, causing the vehicle to strike the driver side of the Hyundai.
According to MSHP, the impact of the crash caused the Hyundai to rotate clockwise and travel off the left side of the roadway before landing in an embankment. The Ford came to a rest in the center of the roadway, MSHP says.
The driver of the Hyundai Accent, a 25-year-old man from Troy, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to MSHP. The driver of the Ford F-150 was transported to a nearby hospital after the crash, suffering from serious injuries.
According to MSHP, the driver of the Ford F-150 was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and the driver of the Hyundai was not.
