IRON COUNTY, Mo. – One man was left dead and two others were left injured Thursday evening after a fatal head-on collision in Pilot Knob.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the crash occurred a little before 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening on Missouri Route 21, south of Maple Street. The crash involved a Ram 1500 and a GMC Sierra.

The crash happened as the driver of the GMC Sierra was traveling northbound on Missouri Route 21 and the Ram 1500 was traveling southbound. According to MSHP, the GMC Sierra crossed the center lane of the roadway and struck the Ram 1500 head-on.

The driver of the GMC Sierra, a 74-year-old man from Belleville, Mo., was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash, MSHP says. The driver and passenger in the Ram 1500 were both transported to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, both suffering from serious injuries.

According to MSHP, the driver of the GMC Sierra was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash; the driver and passenger in the Ram 1500 were not wearing seatbelts.
