WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ill. – A traffic stop on Interstate 64 in rural Washington County netted Illinois authorities a large score of methamphetamines.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the traffic stop happened on Jan. 31 near mile marker 44.

Members of the Washington-Monroe County Drug Task Force searched the vehicle and found 100 pounds of meth hidden within.

The male driver and female driver were arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail.

Federal authorities took the methamphetamine for storage and to aid in future prosecution. The suspects were eventually released, pending future charges.
