ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – An argument between two neighbors over loud noise at a Riverview apartment building resulted in a 13-year-old being shot.
According to the Riverview Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting occurred on June 8 at the Poplar Garden Apartment Complex in the 400 block of Chambers Road.
Police claim Larry Franklin became agitated after he thought that the victim’s family was too loud. The victim’s father confronted Franklin on the apartment stairwell.
Police claim Franklin grabbed a rifle and threatened the family with it. The victim’s father tried taking the rifle away from Franklin.
Franklin pulled the trigger on the rifle and struck the 13-year-old in the leg, police claimed.
The teen was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
Police claim Franklin fled with his rifle. Witnesses were able to identify Franklin as the shooter.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Franklin last week with second-degree assault.
A St. Louis County Circuit Court judge issued an arrest warrant for Franklin on June 18 with a $100,000 cash-only bond.
