ST. LOUIS – An 18-year-old Hazelwood man was charged Tuesday after fleeing from police in an stolen vehicle.
According to St. Louis County police, Donovan Epps, 18, was spotted by police in the stolen vehicle near South New Florissant Road and Claire Drive on Thursday around 7 p.m.
After police attempted to stop Epps’s vehicle, he fled at a high rate of speed. Police said Epps weaved in and out of traffic and even through the front yards of surrounding homes to flee police.
Epps then fled westbound on I-270, going more than 110 miles per hour until he exited onto St. Charles Rock Road and struck an electrical signal. The vehicle was inoperable after the accident, and Epps was hospitalized.
Epps has been charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and aggravated fleeing a stop or detention.
