ST. LOUIS – District 6 officers with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department say an 18-year-old was wounded in a shootout Sunday afternoon in north city.
According to a police spokesperson, the shooting occurred around 4:10 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, in the 4200 block of Shreve Avenue in the Penrose neighborhood.
Responding officers found the victim, an 18-year-old lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to this leg. Police said the victim was bleeding heavily and unable to provide a statement due to his condition.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he remains listed in critical condition.
Police have since learned a shootout happened between multiple people who fled the area before officers arrived.
