ST. LOUIS – A teen woman has been charged after killing a pedestrian along Chippewa Street last May.
According to the probable cause statement, 19-year-old Jamella Cooper was driving along the 4400 block of Chippewa St. on May 7 when she struck and killed 63-year-old Floyd Lucas.
Cooper allegedly fled from the scene.
The crash was caught on surveillance footage. Officers were able to determine and locate Cooper’s vehicle.
When she was interviewed by police, Cooper admitted to hitting Lucas and leaving the scene.
The 19-year-old is charged with one count of Leaving the Scene of an Accident (resulting in death), which is a Class D Felony. She is being held without bond at the St. Louis Justice Center.
Her next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 20.
