ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Two men are in custody for a shooting last week at a Hazelwood convenience store.
According to the Hazelwood Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting occurred on April 23 at Hazelwood Discount Cigarettes in the 6900 block of North Hanley Road.
Police said Tredell Wilkes drove Jaquaz Hardy to the store. Hardy exited the vehicle, took out a gun, and shot the victim at close range. Additional details of the shooting were not available in court documents.
The shooting was caught on security footage.
Police said they later searched Hardy’s home and recovered the clothing he wore during the shooting, as well as the suspected firearm used in the crime. Police also located Wilkes and the vehicle used in the shooting, which had been registered in his name.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged both Wilkes and Hardy with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action. Wilkes remains jailed on a $500,000 cash-only bond, while Hardy has a $750,000 cash-only bond. Both men are due in court on May 2 for bond reduction hearings.
