ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A man is facing charges following robbing a bank in south county and attempting to flee from officers Friday.

Around 11:15 a.m., 50-year-old Richard Meshell went into the Century Credit Union located at 1540 Lemay Ferry Rd. According to officials, he gave a note to an employee and made threats if money was not handed over, while also motioning to his pocket as if he had a weapon.

Local law enforcement saw Meshell and attempted to intervene. Meshell, however, attempted to flee on his motor scooter, crashing into an officer and causing injury.

Police caught Meshell, found money given by the bank with the note, as well as a can opener in his pocket. He confessed to the incident.

Meshell is charged with first-degree robbery and resisting arrest. He is being held on a cash-only $75,000 bond.
