ST. LOUIS – A $50,000 prize was won by a man who purchased a Powerball ticket at a St. Louis Schnucks, MoLottery announced today.

Purchased at the Schnucks Sierra Vista location for the Feb. 15 drawing, the winner matched four out of the five white-ball numbers, including the Powerball number.

“I thought I had matched four numbers and won $100,” the winner said to MoLottery in the press release. “When I scanned the ticket, the screen showed something about the lottery.”

The winner, initially, was unsure of what that potential sign could mean, so he brought his ticket to the clerk.

“The clerk said, ‘I can’t cash this,’” the winner said. “I was shocked when he told me I matched the Powerball and won $50,000!”

For the 2024 fiscal year, players in St. Louis County won over $200.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, whereas retailers earned at least $19.4 million in commissions and bonuses, according to MoLottery. MoLottery also shared that education programs in St. Louis County earned $161.2 million in lottery earnings.

Powerball drawings occur Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m.
