WASHINGTON, Mo. – One woman is dead following a crash on a rural highway in Washington County, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, along Highway 21 at Peacock Road.

The highway patrol said a 2022 Dodge Ram 2500 was traveling southbound on the highway when the 37-year-old driver, a De Soto man, attempted a left turn onto a private driveway and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. A 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, traveling northbound at the time, smashed into the front passenger side of the Ram.

The 55-year-old male driver of the Equinox suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. His 63-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene just after 12:15 p.m. Both lived in Potosi.

The MSHP’s crash report said everyone involved was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash.
