ST. LOUIS – Despite another very cold start Friday, temps in the 10s, we will see a nice warm-up thanks to the return of more southerly winds. Clouds will be increasing through the day as our next storm approaches.
There could be a few pockets of light snow or a spotty light snow/rain mix Friday afternoon, mainly northwest of metro St. Louis. It will be breezy this afternoon, with highs in the upper 30s.
Overnight, as the main storm moves in, temperatures are expected to drop and hold there overnight. So, we stay just above freezing. Rain will overspread the area after midnight, with the heaviest falling along and south of I-44 in MO and I-70 in Illinois.
There could even be some rumbles of thunder. Waves of rain will linger through the day on Saturday, with highs in the mid 40s. There could be a brief change to some wet snow Saturday night as the storm exits and much colder air moves in.
Next week looks very cold. Sunday will be windy and cloudy with temperatures holding in the mid-20s through the day. Many will likely experience temperatures in the single digits outside on President’s Day Monday. We’re still watching for a chance for some snow on Tuesday.
