ST. LOUIS – Tim Ezell interviewed actor Kevin Costner to talk about his new movie, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1.
Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 is the first of a four movie western series that showcases the exploration of America in the Old West before and after the American Civil War.
Kevin Costner has had a passion to create this western film since 1988, even using his own money to make it. He mentions that he was attracted to the difficulty people faced when making the journey across the country.
“I just like the dilemma that people were running into all through the movie.” Costner said. “That it was just done a little bit differently and it made me relate to it more to how people moved across the country and what it took to do it. And I think that’s the opportunity.”
Costner highlights that the history of the journey west was not peaceful but that it was important to share the story of how it happened.
“We have a terrible history there, but it doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t tell the story to see how resourceful the people were that tried to settle this west to make it there.”
Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, releases in theaters on June 28. The movie is the first part of a four-movie series. Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2, releases on August 16 in theaters.
