Alton officer opens up about K-9’s death, thanks community for support

ST. LOUIS – It was a tragic event that rocked the city of Alton: a young police K-9 killed in the line of duty during a shootout with a suspect.

His partner was also shot but survived.

FOX 2’s Jasmine Huda spoke with Officer Allen Averbeck about how he’s doing, when he returns to work, and the outpouring of support from the community.
