CREVE COEUR, Mo. – On Tuesday, an expecting mother anonymously donated her entire baby shower to a mom in need.

Donnetta House’s baby shower was held at Mercy Hospital thanks to the anonymous donation.

“When I first came into the birthing center, I felt really down. I felt depressed, and I also felt hopeless. I felt a lot of heartache and pain,” Donnetta House, expecting mother, said. “I was contemplating abortion, and Aleeza helped me choose life.”

Aleeza Granote is an ambulatory care social worker with Mercy and met with House, who is going through pregnancy alone.

“It became really clear that this was someone that was going to need a lot of help and a lot of support to get her to deliver successfully. I was just really grateful to connect with her,” Granote said.

While working with many others in the birthing center, Granote made another special connection with a mom expecting her second baby.

“So her friends wanted to throw her a shower, but she really didn’t need the extra supplies, so she basically donated her entire shower toward this mom,” Granote shared.

All of the gifts at House’s baby shower were donated by the other mother and her friends.

“I would just like to say thank you for showing me that I have the option to choose life. Thank you for allowing my baby to come into a home where it is well supported provided for and that it won’t have to go without,” House said.

She is eagerly anticipating the arrival of her baby girl, who is due at the end of May.

“I feel like I am called to be a mother, and I feel like I’m worthy of being a mother, and I feel like my child is not abandoned. I realized that God gave me so many resources to provide for my baby,” House said.
