DUPO, Ill. – One man is recovering at the hospital after being shot in the leg Thursday afternoon in Dupo, Illinois.
According to Lt. James Hendricks, a spokesperson for the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. in the 300 block of McBride Avenue.
Deputies responded to a shooting call at that location and found a 40-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. An officer with the Cahokia Heights Police Department applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg.
The victim was hospitalized and is said to be in stable condition.
Hendricks said deputies identified a suspect and went to a nearby residence to confront that individual, and a brief standoff ensued. The suspect left the residence around 5:30 p.m. and was taken into custody.
Investigators will soon present the case to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
