ST. LOUIS — Passengers at St. Louis Lambert International Airport now have a new route to the northeast. Today, the inaugural Avelo Airlines flight departed for New Haven, Connecticut.

St. Louis leaders were present to witness Avelo Airlines’ first flight from Lambert Airport to New Haven. Mayor Tishaura Jones described the flight as a step forward in enhancing the airport’s offerings.

“In the near future, travelers from New Haven and beyond will find it easier to navigate the airport, reach their gates on time, and enjoy the excellent restaurants and businesses on site while waiting to depart,” Mayor Jones said.

This flight marks the beginning of Avelo Airlines’ service with two weekly flights connecting St. Louis directly to New Haven, located just a two-hour drive from New York City.

Airport Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge highlighted New Haven’s attractions that may surprise St. Louis residents.

“During the fall, when everyone wants to see the colors, New Hampshire and Connecticut, and the entire East Coast market come alive,” she noted.

One standout aspect for travelers is the round-trip price to New Haven and back, with Avelo Airlines tickets priced at $175 at their highest. Passengers have expressed satisfaction with the airline’s service.

“We’re used to needing two days to travel between Killingworth, Connecticut, and Missouri. This is fantastic. Two and a half hours? Perfect,” said Robin Wilber, a Connecticut native.

“I love it. It’s basic, but clean, with great staff. The attendants are wonderful, and the flights are always punctual. I really enjoy flying with this airline,” added Mark Francis, another Connecticut native visiting St. Louis.

The non-stop flights are currently scheduled for Thursdays and Sundays.
