ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Area first responders are encouraging everyone to be prepared for the possibility of severe weather Wednesday.

There’s a chance hazardous weather could strike the St. Louis area during what are office hours for many businesses. There is also a St. Louis Cardinals game scheduled for Busch Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

“Now is the time to have a plan in place,” Eureka Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Scott Barthelmass said.

He encouraged any fans heading to the game to take note of where the stadium’s storm shelter areas are located.

Some of the same safety rules for severe weather at home apply to workers at the office.

“That includes getting away from windows,” Barthelmass said. “If you can get to the basement in a building or you can get to an area where bathrooms are located, they are pretty solid because of the way they’re constructed.”

Area school districts are also watching the forecast closely. The Ladue School District sent a letter to parents. A spokesperson for the Rockwood School District tells us that if any changes to dismissal procedures are needed, communication will be sent to students, staff, and families.
