MISSOURI — A new Missouri bill may require students to complete a driver’s education course before graduating high school.
House Bill 248, sponsored by Representative Rodger Reedy, a Republican in the Benton, Pettis, and Johnson counties, would take affect on Aug. 28 if passed.
As of 2024, there are 37 states that require driver’s education classes according to driversed.com Only two of Missouri’s neighboring states, Iowa and Illinois require driver’s education courses.
In Illinois, drivers under 18 years old must take a driver’s education class. In Iowa, the law requires underage drivers complete a 30-hour course and six hours of in-car instruction.
