STE. GENEVIEVE COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities in Ste. Genevieve County are asking for the public’s help in identifying a body found in the Mississippi River last week.

According to Major Jason Schott, chief deputy of the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office, employees from the Tower Rock Stone quarry saw a body floating in the river around 140 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1. The workers pulled the body from the river and brought it to Little Rock Landing.

The sheriff’s office and county coroner retrieved the body for an autopsy. The body is believed to have been in the river for between one and two weeks.

The body is of a Black man between the ages of 20 and 40, approximately 5’8″ tall, and weighing 160 to 170 pounds. The man’s teeth are all natural and the body has several tattoos: a heart-shaped tattoo on his right middle finger, a line or braid of stars with the name “Cee Cee” on the left hand and wrist area, the words “Love Melinda” on his right hand and wrist area, and a tattoo of “STL” with a Cardinal and baseball bat on his left shoulder

The man was also wearing several layers of clothing. He had on a pair of red jogging pants of a pair of black jogging pants, as well as a black “Friday the 13th” t-shirt with a grey/white hoodie that said “Faith Over Fear” on the chest and “Faith” down both sleeves. He was wearing one crew sock and one ankle sock with fleece-lined suede house shoes or boots. He also had on a bra, a dog tag-style chain without the tags, and a silver ring on his right middle finger.
