ST. LOUIS – A bond hearing was held Friday for the man accused of striking Officer Nathan Spiess with his vehicle back in March.
A judge ruled that Frank Carr, 62, can be released from jail on a $3,000 cash bond.
Spiess was attempting to arrest a carjacking suspect on Interstate 70 when the incident occurred. The officer suffered serious injuries, requiring part of his leg to be amputated.
Carr was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident—physical injury and one count of tampering with physical evidence.
According to police, Carr confessed to hitting Spiess with his car, fleeing the scene and having his car towed to a body shop.
His upcoming court date is April 22.
