CARLYLE, Ill. – A family-friendly summer adventure series is returning to the grounds of Carlyle, Ill., to get everyone outdoors.

Leisure at the Lake Summer Series encourages everyone of all ages to enjoy experiences in nature and take advantage of the summer time. From May 31 to Aug. 23, weekly activities will be held every Friday at Carlyle’s outdoor classroom, which is directly behind the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center.

These events include learning about different animals, the moon, sunset tours of the dam, stargazing, and more. Below is a comprehensive list of all activities:

May 31 (7 p.m. – 8 p.m.): Birds of Carlyle Lake

June

June 7 (7 p.m. – 8 p.m.): Say what?! There’s Armadillos in Illinois?

June 14 (7 p.m. – 8 p.m.): Harmony in Nature: Outdoor Yoga

June 21 (8 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.): Our Marvelous Moon

June 28 (7 p.m. – 8 p.m.): Sunset Tour of Carlyle Lake Dam

July 12 (8 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.): Outdoor Movie Night

July 19 (7 p.m. – 8 p.m.): Native American Artifacts

July 26 (7 p.m. – 8 p.m.): Sunset Tour of Carlyle Lake

Aug. 2 (7 p.m. – 8 p.m.): Growing & Caring for Succulents

Aug. 16 (8 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.): Stargazer’s Night

Aug. 23 (7 p.m. – 8 p.m.): Sunset Tour of Carlyle Lake Dam

“As a key provider of recreation, it is our mission to establish a love for the outdoors and continue to generate new ways for our visitors to experience it. We look forward to offering this series to the public and are proud to have the ability to do so,” Park Ranger and Head of Interpretation Darren Murphy said on their website.

Additionally, several local food trucks will be at the location for meals or sweet treats. All activities are free and open to the public but visitors must be registered prior to the event. To sign up, click here.
