ST. LOUIS – One man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting in St. Louis City’s Fairground neighborhood.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting took place shortly before 6:20 p.m. Saturday in the 4200 block of Peck Street.

Officers arrived to find a crowd surrounding the victim, Percy Bowman of Hazelwood, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Bowman died at the scene. He was 44.

On Sunday, homicide detectives identified and apprehended Turley Smith, 31, as the suspected shooter.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Smith with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Smith remains jailed without bond. At the time of publication, no future court date could be found in online records.
