FLORISSANT, Mo. – On Wednesday, the Army Corps of Engineers held an open house at the Florissant Municipal Court to discuss the cleanup efforts of nuclear waste.

Colonel Andy Pannier, commander of the St. Louis District Corps of Engineers, met with FOX 2 News ahead of the meeting and said some of the key points being discussed are updated to the downtown site as well as providing an update on the north county and Coldwater Creek site.

Col. Pannier said his team will also provide an update on the additional properties being added to the cleanup list.

“What the public will hear this evening in those explanation of significant differences or ESDs will be updates to work that we’ve already been doing in a large part and we’re just clarifying that on public record now through these ESDs,” Pannier said.

Karen Nickel with Just Moms STL said a big concern she hopes the Army Corps will address is the soil along the creek.

“If you’ve been out to look at the creek lately, huge chunks of the bank of the creek, they are washed away and at some point, are they going back and testing these banks,” she said.
