ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo . – The 21st Judicial Circuit Court of St. Louis County is warning its residents of a recent scam involving calls demanding payment for a fine if you miss jury duty.

According to the court, the scammer will call a citizen’s cell phone, work, or home phone, stating they missed jury duty and are required to pay a fine immediately.

If the individual doesn’t pay the fine, the scammer then threatens a warrant for an arrest.

Government agencies do not reach out by phone for missing jury duty and will never ask for financial payment over the phone.

The court added that they will always contact citizens by mail. Anyone unsure of the legitimacy of a jury summons can call (314) 615-2669 to verify.
