ST. LOUIS – Crews are on the scene conducting repairs after a water main break occurred in Glendale late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
The water main break began on Wednesday night around 11 p.m. on North Sappington Road, south of Kirkham Avenue in Glendale. North Sappington Road will be closed between Kirkham Avenue and Brownell Avenue until all repairs have been completed.
Due to the lack of water from the water main break, the Kirkwood School District announced that North Glendale Elementary School will be closed on Thursday. All other Kirkwood schools are expected to be open and operational.
Repairs are expected to take approximately 6 hours. Those affected by the water main break may experience discolored or cloudy water, low water pressure, or no water at all.
When repairs are complete, residents may see temporary changes in the water. Missouri American Water advises that if the water experiences decoloration, run cold water at the lowest level of your house. For cloudy water, run water at the highest level of your house. The condition should clear after 3 to 5 minutes of running water.
