PIKE COUNTY, Mo. – A Curryville man is dead and two others were left injured after a fatal crash on U.S. Route 54 Thursday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s (MSHP) crash report, the accident took place a little before 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon on U.S. Route 54, west of Pike 292, involving a Lincoln Town Car and Ford Explorer.

The crash report says the accident happened as the Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 54 and the Lincoln Town Car was traveling westbound.

According to MSHP, the driver of the Ford crossed the center of the roadway into the westbound lanes, causing the vehicle to collide with the front of the Lincoln. Following the collision, the Lincoln traveled off the right side of the roadway while the Ford remained in the westbound lanes.

The driver of the Lincoln, a 32-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to MSHP. The driver and passenger inside the Ford Explorer were transported to a nearby hospital, with both suffering from serious injuries.

According to the crash report, the driver of the Lincoln was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Both the driver and the passenger in the Ford were wearing a seatbelt.
