ST. LOUIS — A family outing to the St. Louis Cardinals game Tuesday night led to a viral moment after a dad impressively caught a foul ball with one hand while holding his daughter in the other.

Cody Fick, the father of 5-year-old Emersyn and 7-year-old LylaRose, impressively and yet so casually caught the foul ball during the Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates game while sitting and holding one of his daughters.

The iconic moment was shared on X by Major League Baseball and has garnered over 280,000 views. The viral catch came after the Cardinals’ Nolan Arenado hit a foul ball into the stands.

“If only I could have parlayed this into a meet and greet with Fred Bird, then my kids would have really been impressed!” Fick posted on X.

Fick told FOX 2 he asked his kids to keep an eye out for a foul ball prior to the start of the game. He said his kids were still more concerned with seeing Fred Bird during the game.

“I’ve been married for 10 years, but I think this is the most impressed my wife has been,” Fick jokingly said.

Fick’s high school, Fatima School District in Westphalia, Missouri, even shared their excitement on Facebook about their former baseball player’s catch.

Tuesday night’s game ended as a win for the Cardinals after beating the Pirates 2-1.
