FERGUSON, Mo. – The Ferguson Police Department arrested a man that allegedly committed a drive-by shooting and was later found by police hiding in the basement of his father’s house, under clothing and a blanket.
Darion Thomas, 38, is charged with four felonies, including armed criminal action and assault. Court documents state that on July 22, Thomas drove up to his victim’s vehicle and began shooting at the victim and the vehicle while the victim was driving.
The shooting caused bodily damage to the car and shattered the windows. The victim returned fire with his own gun. Thomas fled the scene in his black Nissan Altima, which police later found near Thomas’ residence. The Altima also had shattered windows.
Thomas’ father gave police permission to search the apartment. A black handgun was located in the master bedroom and was collected by police. Thomas was found in the basement, hiding under a blanket and other clothing materials in a mesh hamper.
