EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – One man is dead following a house collapse in East St. Louis over the weekend.

Kevin Rogers, 61, was working inside the house along N. 41st Street Sunday afternoon when it collapsed, according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye.

The fire department was called to the scene just before 3 p.m. after a neighbor reported hearing a loud “boom,” according to East St. Louis Assistant Chief Ed Wayne.

Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma, Dye added.

It remains unclear why the house collapsed.
