EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – An East St. Louis man is in custody for shooting 12 people at a club in Venice, Illinois, last November.
Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine charged Delvarrion D. Harris, 30, with 12 counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of possession of weapon by a felon.
The shooting happened in the early morning hours of Nov. 24, 2024, at a club in the 1400 block of Broadway.
According to prosecutors, Harris pulled a gun and shot 12 people. Some victims had to be hospitalized. All 12 victims survived.
The charges were filed Dec. 20, 2024, but remained under seal until Tuesday, after Harris was arrested.
Haine’s office has filed a petition to deny pretrial release, arguing Harris should remain in custody while awaiting trial, saying that he poses a threat to others.
Haine commended the Venice Police Department and other agencies that assisted in Harris’ arrest, including Illinois State Police, the ISP Division of Forensic Services, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
“This investigation required significant resources,” Haine said. “Law enforcement agencies in Madison County, along with the residents of this county, are committed to keeping our communities safe and free of violence.”
