MADISON COUNTY, Ill. — A hit-and-run crash killed a 43-year-old Edwardsville man along Route 143 near Kendall Drive on Thursday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Pablo Puente.

Roxana Police discovered Puente’s body at 2:40 p.m. on October 4, just one day after he was reported missing by his family. A preliminary investigation suggests the cyclist was deliberately hit by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Puente was last seen on October 2, leaving his home on a 29-inch Giordana mountain bike with an Intrepid Carbon Aluminum Frame. Investigators noted the bicycle was missing from the crime scene.
