BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Election results are coming in for several key municipal races across Illinois, including the high-profile mayoral contests in Belleville and Alton.
In Belleville, the nonpartisan race for mayor remains tight. Incumbent Mayor Patty Gregory, seeking a second term, faces City Clerk Jennifer Gain Meyer in a competitive showdown. Gregory has backing from St. Clair County Board Chairman Mark Kern, while State Representative Jay Hoffman has actively supported Meyer. Write-in candidate Ryan Musick is also in the race.
Over in Alton, voters are deciding between incumbent Mayor David Goins, former Mayor Brant Walker, and challenger Ray Strebel. The outcome could signal a shift in city leadership.
