EUREKA, Mo. – Eureka High School has finished renovations on their Metals Shop, now featuring a buffet of industry-standard equipment to offer students.
Corey Sink, Eureka High’s Principal, expressed how vital students being offered cutting-edge technology is for their education.
“We can really look and work with industry,” Sink said. “And try to say, ‘Okay, this is the equipment that they’re using.’ We want our kids with hands-on experience using that same equipment.”
Ben Ferrell, one of the Metals Shop teachers, added to the principal’s point.
“The main thing we were looking for was that everything was industry standard,” Ferrell told FOX 2. “We could just jump in, and kids could roll and they’d get the feel for what the industry actually is like.”
There are currently about 40 students enrolled in the Metal Processes program, but Sink anticipates that number will grow as the upgraded space can now accommodate more students.
The project cost about $750,000 and took just over a year to complete.
