ROLLA, Mo. — As the city of Rolla continues to pick up the pieces left behind from Friday’s tornadoes, one library is aiming to connect locals back with lost photos.
The Rolla Public Library shared on Facebook a post asking locals to bring in family photos or mementos found in storm debris that they are unable to locate the owners of. The library will house a lost and found and post the photos on social media to help locate the owners.
Rebecca Buckling, director for the Rolla Public Library, told FOX 2 they have not received any photos or mementos yet, but are hopeful the community will use this resource to help families connect back to special items.
Widespread damage to homes and businesses has been seen across Rolla since the storm on Friday, and Buckling said local churches, businesses, and groups of volunteers have been coming out to help with the sorting.
“The community is really stepping up to help,” Buckling said. “It’s amazing to see the community out in this way.”
