ST. LOUIS – A father and son from St. Louis have been charged for their roles in an organized theft ring responsible for millions of dollars in stolen goods and damages.

According to probable cause statements from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, detectives began investigating the theft ring in August 2024. Thanks to months of digging and the use of informants, detectives identified Curtis R. Lasky, 60, and Cody R. Lasky, 25, as “integrally involved” in the scheme.

Police eventually obtained search warrants for the Laskys’ residence and a garage in the 7800 block of Michigan Avenue, located in the city’s Patch neighborhood.

A SWAT unit accompanied police in executing the search warrants on Jan. 30, 2025.

During the search of the residence, police found 11 firearms:

Dozens of power tools, a company ID badge, hand tools, and other construction merchandise reported stolen from across the region were found in the home.

When authorities searched the Laskys’ rented garage, they found more stolen power tools, a stolen firearm, and a 2013 GMC Yukon belonging to the Herculaneum Police Department. Police said the Yukon was in the process of being dismantled in order to be sold for parts.

According to police, Cody Lasky fled St. Louis sometime between Jan. 30 and Feb. 6 and was hiding out in Branson. He was arrested in St. Louis City on Feb. 6 while driving driving against traffic on Interstate 55.

There’s no record if Curtis Lasky is in custody.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged both Cody and Curtis Laskey with seven counts of stealing – $750 or more, five counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree trafficking drugs, stealing a firearm, and stealing a motor vehicle.

Cody remains jailed without bond. Once in custody, Curtis will also be jailed without bond.
