FERGUSON, Mo. – The Ferguson Police Department (FPD) announced today that it has plans to move forward with making its community safer for residents.

The department’s plan is spearheaded by the initiative to enhance trust in Ferguson’s residents, following the 2014 death of Michael Brown. FPD says their plan can allow the public to be active members in dealing with crime.

“This plan is somewhere between 20-25 pages long, and when you look at the structure of the plan, it has not only goals and objectives but it has key performance indicators,” said Patricia Washington of the Ferguson Police Department. “It has measurable outcomes—things that we will be looking for.”

City leaders in Ferguson are also looking to continue their efforts in strengthening the relationship between law enforcement and citizens.

Chief Tracy Doyle shared that with a combination of community policing, strategic investments and dedicated personnel, FPD will be committed to establishing an effective unit that holds itself accountable to residents.
