A firefighter who fell through the floor of a burning house was transported to a hospital Tuesday afternoon in Reynolds, Ill.

Firefighters told Our Quad Cities News that a firefighter fell from the first floor to the basement while crews battled a blaze in a house on the 400 block of Lincoln Street. They said the firefighter was in stable condition and probably will be released from the hospital Tuesday night.

Crews remained on the scene after the home caught fire Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters said the house was being renovated, and no one was inside at the time of the fire.

The state fire marshal will be at the scene and will investigate the cause of the blaze.

Our Quad Cities News crew saw severe damage to the front door of the structure. Fire crews had placed a ladder to a second-floor window.

Departments from Reynolds, Andalusia, Coyne Center, Coal Valley, Matherville, along with a utility company crew and an ambulance, were on the scene.

At 5:30 p.m., crews remained in the area to put out hot spots and investigate the blaze.
