ST. LOUIS – The Firefighters Institute for Racial Equality (F.I.R.E.) Retirees has launched a scholarship fund named after Captain George Baker to support aspiring Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics.

The scholarship, supported by the Athletes to First Responder Charitable Fund, Inc., aims to finance part or all of the students’ classes during the spring, summer, and fall semesters. Partnerships with the Northeast Ambulance and Fire Protection District and Forest Park Community College & Foundation help facilitate this program.

A graduation ceremony for students from the Northeast Ambulance and Fire Protection District EMS Academy was held on February 6 at Beverly Hills City Hall. The event celebrated the achievements of those who have completed their training.

The 4th Annual Robert W. Anderson Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament, a major fundraiser for the scholarship, is scheduled for August 8, 2025, at Eagle Springs Golf Course. This event is crucial for gathering support for students interested in public safety and emergency services.

The F.I.R.E. Retirees’ efforts to support future EMTs and paramedics through scholarships and fundraising events highlight the importance of investing in public safety education.
