ST. LOUIS – Firefighters are working to extinguish a first-alarm fire at what appears to be a vacant building on Arsenal between Michigan and Minnesota Avenues.
The fire broke out around early Wednesday morning and has caused significant damage to the structure, with flames breaking through the roof. An occupied building next door has also sustained some damage.
Firefighters are unable to enter the building due to its unsafe condition. They are working to extinguish it from the exterior using hand lines and aerial equipment.
Arsenal is currently closed between Minnesota and Michigan Avenues as crews work to bring the fire under control. No injuries have been reported at this time, but the building is said to have suffered heavy damage.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. Authorities are investigating the incident.
