WACO, Tx. — A United Airlines jet from Springfield made an emergency landing on Sunday after experiencing turbulence injuring five passengers.

According to FOX 2 affiliate station KOLR, local officials said no one suffered from life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment after making an emergency landing in Waco, Texas.

SkyWest 5690, operating as United Express took off from Springfield seven minutes ahead of schedule at 4:48 p.m. before landing one hour and 40 minutes later at Waco National Airport at 6:28 p.m., according to FlightAware.

The flight was originally scheduled to land at Houston-Bush International Airport 32 minutes later.

There were 29 passengers on the plane with three crew members. KOLR said law enforcement was still on the scene two hours after the emergency landing.
