MISSOURI – Flags at all government and public buildings throughout Missouri will be flown at half-staff throughout the entire month of January.
President Joe Biden ordered on Monday that flags across the U.S. be at half-staff in honor of the late former president Jimmy Carter.
Carter, who died on Sunday at 100 years old, served as the 39th president of the United States. His funeral services will be held in Georgia and Washington beginning Jan. 4 and concluding on Jan 9.
“President Carter was a man of character, courage, and compassion, whose lifetime of service defined him as one of the most influential statesmen in our history,” Biden said in a news release. “He embodied the very best of America: A humble servant of God and the people. A heroic champion of global peace and human rights, and an honorable leader whose moral clarity and hopeful vision lifted our Nation and changed our world.”
