ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The flooding in Eureka is changing how some people will cast their vote Tuesday.

Crews spent the day monitoring rising water near Twin Rivers road and Highway W. Both roads were closed by floodwaters from the Big River.

It is impassable in Jefferson County, right outside Eureka. City officials say at least one polling place has been relocated ahead of tomorrow’s election. They’re urging voters to double-check where they’re headed before leaving homes

“The Jefferson County election officials started looking last Wednesday at a potential for river flooding; they had a process,” said Chief Scott Bartelmass. “They had to go through the state as well as through the Jefferson County legal team to get the polling place moved. It’s not an easy task in this portion of the county; there are not many options.”

The flooding is very close to the Brookdale Farms polling location and as a result, polling sites have been switched.

The polling sites have now been relocated to the Eureka Firehouse station 1 on Missouri 109 and the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office at 729 Maple Street, Hillsboro, Missouri, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Officials are asking residents to avoid  flooded areas and report any new issues  as conditions change
