ST. LOUIS – A Florissant man was sentenced today for selling fentanyl, which resulted in the death of twin brothers in 2023.

Jesse Charleston, 35, pleaded guilty in January, admitting that he gave one of the men four capsules, free of charge.

According to prosecutors, Charleston said the capsules were “testers.”

After the men received the drugs, officials discovered them dead in their apartment.

“This case exemplifies the dangerousness of fentanyl,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Jerome McDonald wrote. “In recent years, fentanyl and fentanyl analogues have caused far too many overdose deaths in the St. Louis community and across this country.”

Court documents say that detectives located fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and text messages incriminating Charleston.

On one of the brothers phones, prosecutors said that Charleston sent a message, saying, “Did you like it?” The following day.

Authorities also discovered text messages exchanged between the victims and Charleston.

Charleston was sentenced to 14 years in prison.
