ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – What turned out to be a forgotten errand became a lucky decision for one man.
“I stopped that morning on the way to work and picked up one of those tickets,” the winner told Missouri Lottery.
According to the Missouri Lottery, the man had a delayed stop at the Circle K’s Chesterfield location to pick up gas.
When the lucky individual scratched off the ticket, he initially thought what he saw was fake.
The Missouri Lottery says the scratched ticket had one of the game’s top prizes, which was apparently $777,777.
“My wife and I were going to take our 20th anniversary trip this year, and this will help fund that,” the winner told Missouri Lottery.
Winners of the “777 jackpot” have earned over $8.7 million ever since the games began on Feb. 24, according to the Missouri Lottery.
Players who purchased tickets in St. Louis County have won $200 million in Fiscal Year 2024, with retailers also earning $19.4 million.
About $25.3 million remains in unclaimed prizes.
