ST. LOUIS – A former middle school teacher in the Affton School District appeared in federal court on Wednesday and admitted possessing hundreds of images and videos containing child sexual abuse material.
Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Illinois said Scott R. Ellis, 38, faces up to 20 years in federal prison when he’s sentenced on June 3.
According to court documents, police in St. Louis County received a cybertip in Octobr 2022 from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children about a Google Account registered with Ellis’ phone number, date of birth, and two email addresses that included his full name within the address.
The former Rogers Middle School teacher possessed 72 images of CSAM on his cell phone and about 700 videos and more than 900 images on his Mega and Google cloud storage accounts.
Ellis pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography.
